The BRD Committee has been working tirelessly to improve market conditions for our collision repair members and they are now beginning to reap the benefits of a lot of hard work. It is important however that we continue to work hard to improve business conditions.
The Motor Vehicle Insurance and Repair Industry Code of Conduct (the "Code") is designed to instil good practice in regards to dealings and commercial relations between car insurers, collision repair businesses and assessors.

Two important expert determinations handed down over the past couple of months remove most of the grey areas in the Code.
We strongly recommend that every BRD member refers to the Code frequently and reads the two supporting determinations we have provided below:
Determination 1
Determination 2
(Please note the Code is legislated in NSW).
All car insurer Internal Dispute Resolution (IDR) officers, front line claims and field staff such as assessors (including their assessor agents) must have access and be trained in the Code, and Code expert determinations.
To assist in building your knowledge of the Code (rights, obligations and responsibilities), we have sent you the MTAA shop rate calculator and strongly recommend that you have your accountant use the calculator and validate your costs. This will be beneficial to your dealings with insurers well into the future:
The shop rate calculator can be downloaded and is available to all motor body repair businesses by clicking here.
