Last financial year, 214,279 training hours were delivered across the four key automotive trades - mechanical, refinishing, panel beating and heavy vehicles, as well as in our upskilling courses. This represents a year on year increase in budgeted training hours of 36,259.
With an additional four training sites across the state and an increased number of qualifications in which we now train, we have been able to service more businesses and train more apprentices. Regional RTO training from August 2018 to the end of March 2019, delivered 24,145 training hours across our four additional training locations.
We are also increasing our training market share, which has seen positive growth. Of the total 850 automotive apprentices who commenced their training last financial year in South Australia, 424 commenced at the MTA, a remarkable achievement, up from 313 in the previous financial year. The MTA now also trains 45 per cent of all automotive apprentices in South Australia, 25 per cent through our own Group Training Organisation and 20 per cent from industry.
These increases in training hours, commencements, extra training sites and qualifications, demonstrate how many automotive businesses now rely on the MTA’s Group Training Scheme and in particular our RTO, to deliver the highest possible training quality. With our continuous improvement program, businesses can have confidence in enrolling their staff and apprentices in our training programs.

The MTA is continuing our promotion of opportunities in the automotive industry as well and we look forward to expanding our training further to accommodate more apprentices and providing the best quality training solutions for your businesses.
