Many young apprentices may be encountering their first tax return and this can be a daunting task.
As we know, tax returns can be done online or through a Tax Agent, but many people opt for doing it themselves.
The Australian Tax Office has provided us with a range of useful guides to help apprentices complete their tax returns.
Your apprentices need to be aware of that many items can be included in their tax return such as work related expenses and other common or general deductions such as travel, uniforms or work clothing and self-education.
The links below can assist your apprentices in navigating their first tax return and find out what can be included:
Apprentices – How to Get Your Tax Right
- Car and Travel Work-related Expenses poster
- Self-Education Work-related Expenses guide
- Gifts and Donations Work-related Expenses guide
We encourage you to forward this article onto your apprentices and to explore the links in the dot points above.
We will be doing an article for business tax returns soon.
