September registration reports

Public news

The good news from September’s registration and sales figures is the increase of 32 Tractors and Industrial Machinery units registered in South Australia in comparison to this time last year while there were 78 additional Truck and Bus units also registered in South Australia. The increase in Truck and Bus registrations represents a massive 51% increase from last September’s figures.

September delivered some disappointing results for new car sales however with 94,711 new units sold nationally – down 5.5% Year-over-Year. The month was also slightly down on August (-510 units). This puts the Year-to-Date sales approximately 1% down on 2017.

Locally, results delivered a similar story – down 5.1% Year-over-Year (5,721 new cars sold compared to 6,029 last September) and down 2.7% on August. This equates to 1.6% down Year-to-date compared to 2017.

Unfortunately, used (Light vehicle) registrations in South Australia (including first time registered in SA) totalled 25,419. This was 3% down on September last year (-708 units) and down by 13% on August (-3,850 units).
