Promoting automotive apprenticeships

Public news

The MTA is continuing with our promotions for sharing on your own social media pages with a new video highlighting the quality of the MTA’s Training and Employment Centre, career pathways in the automotive industry and where the MTA’s training can take young apprentices.

As identified in Directions in Australia’s Automotive Industry: An Industry Report 2017 last year, there is an estimated shortage of 712 light vehicle mechanics, 208 heavy vehicle mechanics, 115 panel beaters and 105 vehicle refinishers in this state. As a result, the MTA has ramped up its promotion displaying the highest quality training for automotive apprentices, providing them with real world experience in employer workshops and motorsport events.

The MTA will continue to actively promote automotive trades across Facebook and other social media outlets. For these promotional videos to be effective, we need automotive businesses and apprentices to get behind the initiative.

Remember to like and share the MTA’s Apprenticeship Facebook page by clicking here or access the video on Facebook by clicking here. By sharing the video, you can encourage more young people into automotive trades, helping to fight the skills shortage currently facing our industry.

Further to the new promotional video, the MTA will be attending the Adelaide Careers and Employment Expo at the Adelaide Showground, 25 and 26 May. This is all part of our ongoing engagement with schools, young South Australians and parents, to display to the automotive career pathways and how the MTA can help young people become qualified technicians.
