NSW Police bust a road user for unusual DIY modification

Public news

A dodgy DIY home mechanic was pulled over by NSW Police for defective and worn out tyres recently, with this case taking an unexpected turn when the police officer looked under the bonnet of the vehicle to find a leaf blower, recklessly installed as a makeshift turbo charger.

This is a good example of why we need a compulsory light vehicle inspection scheme, to identify vehicles such as this that are not maintained properly and / or have illegal modifications, putting other road users at risk.

It’s unclear whether or not the leaf blower added any performance at all to the vehicle with the driver allegedly testing positive for methamphetamines in his system.
