December 2017’s Motorcycle Reference Group meeting contained much discussion on ways to better achieve a reduction in motorcycle fatalities in 2018. The Minister for Road Safety has called for all options to be put on the table.
The MTA will be in attendance at the next meeting and we need your input as to which issues the MTA should focus on through the Motorcycle Reference Group.

Here are some facts collected over the last 5 years relating to fatal and serious injury crashes involving motorcycles:
- 58% were motorcycle only (no other vehicles involved)
- 32% of fatalities had a blood alcohol reading of 0.05 or greater and 23% of fatalities tested positive to illegal narcotics.
- Almost 1 in 5 riders involved in fatal crashes were not appropriately licensed.
- Almost half of serious casualty crashes in the Adelaide metro area occurred at intersections.
