The MTA’s Training and Employment Careers Day to be held on Friday 2 August is attracting strong interest from students and young people who are considering future career options.
Our Careers Day will showcase the latest in automotive training, technology and employment opportunities that school leavers will expect to see in their future if they choose to become part of the automotive industry.
Group Training Manager, Jason Polgreen, said that Careers Day was one of the most important events in the MTA calendar.
“Career Days are often the first time many young people get to see what the automotive industry is about. And first impressions count.”
“We want attendees, as well as their families, to walk away from the event so impressed with the future opportunities the automotive industry can offer, that they have already taken the first step in their career by applying for an apprenticeship or wanting to find out more.
“It is also important that the parents and family have confidence that there is security and opportunity in the industry. As someone who started out as an MTA apprentice more than 20 years ago, I know that there is.”
“But the industry should also speak for itself, if we want to attract the best young people to the industry, by getting involved in Careers Day.”
Attendees have the opportunity to see the types of vehicles in modern workshops and test their hand skills with equipment in our state of the art training centre including spray booths, automotive scan tools and much more.
The MTA will also be demonstrating its learning and student support spaces, which provide apprentices with the tools they need to succeed throughout their apprenticeship not only in the classroom or workshop but outside of it as well.
Our Training and Apprenticeships staff will also be able to provide an opportunity for attendees to apply for a job as an automotive apprentice, with opportunities available as a:
- Light Vehicle Technician
- Heavy Vehicle Technician
- Body Repair Technician
- Refinishing Technician
- Automotive Parts Sales
- Agricultural Diesel Technician
- Heavy Commercial Trailer Technician
- Motorcycle Repair Technician
- Marine Technician
- Mobile Plant Technician
- Automotive Electrical Technician
Information on School Based Apprenticeships will also be available.
MTA staff and trainers will be on hand to assist attendees with any questions and to give insight on their own automotive journey and why attendees should think about the different ways in which the automotive industry could be for them.
To ensure as many young people as possible have the opportunity to touch and feel the automotive experience for themselves, the MTA is working with more than sixty schools and colleges.
If you would like to be involved in showcasing the industry, or if you think your local high school or youth group should be attending Careers Day, we would like to hear from you.
