Coronavirus – Is it business as usual

Public news

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) is having a big impact on businesses in South Australia.

While there have been no confirmed cases at the MTA, in the interests of protecting members, all MTA Zone and Divisional meetings and membership visits have been cancelled until the end of April this year.

The MTA will continue to operate with a few key differences until further notice:

  • While face to face membership visits will not be resuming until the beginning of May, our Industry Engagement, Workplace Relations, training staff and Field Officers, will still be available to assist you and your apprentices via phone and email as always.
  • The MTA's Workplace Relations team are considering online / webinar solutions for those who have registered in WR courses until the end of April. You can still register for these WR courses by clicking here and those who have already registered will be contacted about how they can attend via webinar.
  • Emergency Warden training, which was scheduled for Wednesday, the 18th of March, has been postponed until further notice. Test and Tag training, which was scheduled for Wednesday, the 8th of April, has also been postponed until further notice.

Government policy and recommendations regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19) are changing daily and we encourage you to check the MTA's website for updates and Workplace Relations advice regularly by clicking here.

Our Workplace Relations team has also created a 'Memo to staff' that you can circulate to your employees in relation to Coronavirus (COVID-19). You can access this by clicking here.
