On 16 June 2021, the Fair Work Commission handed down their Annual Wage Review decision. After consideration of all factors, and submissions from employer groups, unions and government, the Commission made an order that the National Minimum Wage and all award minimum wages would increase by 2.5%.
The Commission also ordered an increase in allowances to CPI, and made orders for the referential dates for these determinations.
For most awards, these increases will apply from the first pay period after 1 July 2021. For some awards impacting business operating in sectors still under pressure from COVID-19 restrictions, the increases will apply from a later date (either 1 September or 1 November 2021).
This increase is on top of the superannuation increase from 9.5% to 10% also due to occur from 1 July 2021.
