After successful advocacy by members and the MTA, all Licensed Vehicle Dealers (LVD) and Motorcycle Industry Association of SA (MIASA) Division members that are EzyReg delegates for cars and motorcycles, now have authorisation to perform a Tier 1 inspection.
A Tier 1 inspection is an identity inspection of a vehicle that has arrived from interstate for resale by a Licensed Vehicle Dealer.
In August 2017, the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) announced that it would no longer be processing Tier 1 inspections for motor vehicles and motorcycles allowing vehicle dealers to process these transactions in-house, however this was only for new vehicle dealers.
Since the change came into effect last month, LVD and MIASA members will no longer need to have an interstate vehicle inspected at Regency (or relevant location for regional dealers) and can instead simply process the transaction in EzyReg.
The following conditions still apply:
- The vehicle must be sold by the dealership
- The dealership must guarantee clear title on the vehicle
- The vehicle must be no older than 10 years (calculated based on 10 years from 1 January of the year of manufacture)
- Both the VIN and engine number must be entered correctly as part of the transaction, and match the identifiers recorded on NEVDIS.
